WIRSPA’s Icon series returns with Robert Henriques, the former managing director of the Wray & Nephew Agricultural Division. The Icon series features in-depth interviews with the people whose decades of service have helped shape Caribbean rum in recent years.
Generations of the Henriques family have played an important role in Wray & Nephew’s management and ownership. Robert oversaw all of Wray & Nephew’s agricultural operations for decades, including the Appleton and New Yarmouth distilleries. In addition, Robert has served on numerous industry boards, including Jamaica’s Spirits Pool.

After graduating in Hispanic and Portuguese studies in King’s College London, my interest grew vastly in Latin spirits, specializing in Rum and Tequila. My expertise was strengthened when I joined Pernod Ricard in 2014 as a brand ambassador in Australia, the following year I joined Havana Club International to work on the brand internationally. As Havana Club Global Brand Ambassador, I focus on building awareness of Cuban rum via communication, events and education, market planning and trade advocacy strategy. I´m working closely with bartenders and entrepreneurs in the industry, collaborating with bars around the world.

Why does this not exist with alcohol? Especially when we consider the negative effect of not disclosing allergens, use of animal products and dozens of added chemicals and sweeteners to consumers who need to know this information in order to maintain their health. This seminar explores the need for full disclosure to consumers, and premiers the first alcohol product in history to voluntarily list both Ingredients and Serving Facts on its bottle labels – The Real McCoy Limited Edition 50% ABV.
