About Matt Strickland:
Matt Strickland started in the alcohol industry as a graduate student at Oregon State University where he received his Master’s in Oenology and Viticulture. From there he quickly moved into the realm of distilling working for acclaimed distilleries such as Corsair in Nashville Tennessee and District Distilling Company in Washington, DC. He is currently the Master Distiller for Distillerie Cote des Saints in Mirabel Quebec where he produces single malt whisky using a cacophonic array of cask types to produce a distiller’s rainbow of flavors and textures. He is an avid and enthusiastic promoter of industry education. Matt is a faculty member of both Moonshine University and The Siebel Institute. He is also the only American to sit on the Distilling Board of Examiners for the Institute of Brewing & Distilling. (He also writes quite a bit of the IBD’s learning materials.) Matt has written numerous articles for various trade magazines such as Distiller Magazine, Artisan Spirit and Brewer & Distiller International. In the past two years he has written two books aimed at distillers of all levels, Cask Management for Distillers (White Mule Press, 2020) and Batch Distillation: Science and Practice (White Mule Press, 2021). When he’s not distilling, writing or teaching, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Kerri, and their two daughters, Lorelei and Sadie.
